Night & Day | 2019

I’d cite this as my first real departure from my previous body of work. From mystical drawings of inner worlds to a much more lucid and candid depiction of the scenes that, in reality, surround that inner world. Inspired by the work of European impressionism and Japanese woodblock printing, an emphasis is placed on capturing specific moments of light, magnifying the strange and fleeting moments within the familiar and mundane. Spanning the months of October and November 2019, these works were all produced in a technology deprived workspace, dedicated solely to working with paint. A stark contrast to previous working environments.
